    About David Watson

    David Watson, CSCS

Clinical expertise with a high-performance mindset.

Elite sport requires more than rehabilitation. It requires preparation, objective decision making, and a performance mindset that helps athletes recover from injury and return to competition with confidence.

I'm David A. Watson, PT, DPT, SCS, OCS, FAAOMPT, CPSS, CSCS, a dual board-certified Sports and Orthopaedic Physical Therapist, Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, Certified Performance and Sport Scientist, and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. For more than 14 years, my career has focused on helping athletes recover from injury, optimize performance, and safely return to play at the highest level.

Today, I work as a private consultant for active and aspiring NBA players, providing offseason injury assessment, manual therapy, return to play planning, and performance focused rehabilitation. My approach combines sports medicine, performance science, objective testing, and hands on treatment to help athletes bridge the gap between rehabilitation and performance.

In 2025, I advanced to the final round of interviews for a full time Physical Therapist role with an NBA organization, spending time alongside performance staff while caring for athletes in a professional team environment. That experience further reinforced my passion for working in elite sport and collaborating within high performance teams.

My background includes experience across professional, collegiate, and Olympic development pathways. I served as Lead Physical Therapist for the 2015 Boston Whitecaps, Major League Ultimate Champions, and completed a Division I clinical affiliation within Northeastern University Sports Medicine, helping care for athletes who later advanced to the NHL and Olympic competition. I have also cared for athletes from The Skating Club of Boston, including a U.S. Champion and future Olympian.

Previously, I worked at Massachusetts General Hospital, collaborating with physicians, athletic trainers, and rehabilitation specialists to provide sideline medical coverage for the Boston Public Schools Athletics Department at events throughout Greater Boston. Through Massachusetts General Hospital’s affiliation with the Boston Bruins, I gained exposure to the care of professional hockey athletes and the demands of NHL level sports medicine.

Outside of clinical practice, I remain committed to sports medicine service, education, and continued professional growth. I have volunteered to provide medical care at the Boston Marathon, Head of the Charles Regatta, and with Tedy's Team, supporting runners throughout marathon training and race preparation. I am also an approved volunteer within the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee Sports Medicine Volunteer Program.
